Top 5 Patterns for this Spring!

Now that we are finally in Spring, we're gearing up for all the beautiful prints the season typically ushers in. Below we share some insight on the top patterns you will be seeing in stores this season. Many of these correlate with the trends and prints we predicted well over a year ago!

  Foliage Prints

As usual in the Spring season, florals are predominant.  This spring, look for florals with lots of leafy foliage in the mix, whether they be palms, ferns, or vines as we foresaw with our Bright Future trend. From the runway to retail, look for leafy prints to freshen your spring wardrobe. At the retail level, we love this elegant silk top by Yumi Kim. On the runways for Spring 2018, designers like Marc Jacobs, Marni, and Miu Miu showed lots of prints that supported this trend.

Festival Florals

Spring is the start of festival season with events from Coachella to Cinco De Mayo. These vibrant florals are perfect for attending parties and festivals. Like our Mexicali Trend, they are all about celebrating cultural influences and feature prints inspired by embroidered flowers on traditional handicrafts throughout Latin America. These bold flowers have been seen on beautiful dresses at Saylor, festival style tops at Forever 21, and runways like Alice & Olivia

Cheetah Print

Cheetah and Leopard prints are really hot right now. In fact, we reported this as a top print for Fall 2017 and it shows no signs of abating! We saw this trend coming when we predicted the Wild West Trend and later runways from Balenciaga, Versace, and Gucci were flooded with great looking renditions of these animal prints. Retailers like Express and PrettyLittleThing have already got some really cute items addressing this trend. We also have a playful version in bright color for someone wanting to go beyond the traditional. Can't get enough? Check out our Pinterest board “Cat’s Meow” dedicated to these prints.

Polka Dots

Seeing spots?  Don't worry so are we! Spring 2018 is all about polka dots. Primarily in black (or navy) and white, we have been happy to see a key element of our Portofino Paramour trend coming to fruition. If you're looking for a very wearable piece that can transition from daytome to date night, Anthropologie has a vintage looking polka dot dress that is fits the bill. Michael Kors has some fun wide leg pants that we love as well. Valentino, MM6, and Self-Portrait all hit the runway with plenty of dots to support this classic spring trend.

Stripes & Plaids

Stripes are trending for this spring. Fine lines, wide stripes, and handpainted versions are everywhere this year. Another really popular rendition is the rainbow stripe, which was shown on several runways and in our own collection as well. Striped pieces were often shown along with checks and plaids, and these traditional patterns took on a fresh approach when paired together. In stores, The Jetset Diaries created a beautiful dress and matching two piece set that are perfect for this season. Cooper St also has a lovely long sleeve dress that looks the picture of our nautical trend, Portofino Paramour. Runway looks from Hermes, Sonia Rykiel, and Alice + Olivia for their Spring 2018 collections all showed lots of stripes and checks.
