Top 5 Accessories for Spring 2019

Although it's snowing here today, Spring is just around the corner and we can't wait! We’ve already given you a peek at the trends and prints for Spring/Summer 2019 that have marched down the runways. Let's preview of the top 5 accessories that warmer weather will bring...

1. Supersized Sunnies

There are a few accessories that have the power to make or break an outfit. As an integral part of any Spring look, sunglasses have made a bold statement this year. Taking a turn from the 90’s inspired tinted sunnies, designers are looking to supersize the look. Smaller frames are on the way out and shielded sunglasses are stepping up giving fashionistas a stand-out look inspired by the 80’s.

2. Feathered Shoes

A soft and striking adornment, designers have festooned their Spring ready-to-wear collections with plumes for 2019. These fanciful and ultra-feminine shoes have made quite a statement on many runways. Look for more feathered accessories to touch down this spring.

3. Crochet Bags

Channeling that Cali-boho aesthetic coveted by influencers and instagrammers, designers like Loewe, Ulla Johnson, and Michael Kors are bringing the crochet bag back as a lighthearted accessory for warmer weather. From beach time to a fun night out, crochet bags are updated and stylish while emitting a nostalgic and casual vibe.

4. Shell Jewelry

Spring weather brings the promise of returning to the beach for beautiful waves and morning sun. In a validation of our S/S 2018 women's trend forecast "Atlantis", recent runways have flipped the script and brought the beach to you, most notably in Chanel's show. Designers like Altuzarra, Missoni, and Etro are bringing the heat with their ocean inspired accessories, very literally interpreted in the abundance of Shell Jewelry. Can't get enough of the beach? Check out our Atlantis Pinterest board for a well-spring of beachy inspo.

5. Printed Shoes

Statement prints have taken root in the minds of designers and will be invading the streets this coming season. The scrolled and stylized prints that are now ubiquitous on accessories were called out in our S/S 2019 women's trend forecast "Renaissance" and it's been a delight to see them flourishing on runways. In just a few short weeks, elaborately printed and embellished heels, boots, mules, and sneakers will be making their appearance just as actual spring buds start to bloom  - in effect fashion will be mirroring nature. Check out our print shop to get your hands on the best prints from this trend!

BONUS!! Elaborate Head Wear

Although we promised you five major accessories, we couldn't resist adding this last one because it was on lots of runways and made such a bold statement.

Headwear is a top trend for Spring and it shows no signs of slowing down. Although the most dramatic examples of this piece, like the one from Anrealage in the slideshow above, may not make an appearance on most city streets, look for more subtle variations of this trend in highly embellished and jeweled headbands or hair ornaments.

We'd love to hear which of these accessories you think will make a high impact for Spring - did we hit the mark or did we leave something important out??
